New England Bible College Doctrinal Statement
We believe that the Bible is God's Holy Word, verbally and fully inspired, inerrant, and infallible in the original text. It is the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; who created the heavens and the earth, including all that is in them, by a direct act of His will. We believe in God the Father, perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, measureless in power. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, the eternal and only begotten Son of God. We believe that in His earthly life He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin, and lived a sinless life. We believe in His vicarious and atoning death for the sins of the world. We believe in His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension to the right hand of the Father to make intercession for the saints, and in His personal, visible, imminent and premillennial return to the world in power and glory. We believe in the Holy Spirit, in His personality and deity; that He was sent forth from the Father to convince the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. We believe that He is come to regenerate, indwell, sanctify, instruct, empower, and comfort those who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that all men are by nature and by choice sinners, destitute of all power to save themselves. We believe that the only means of salvation for mankind is the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit through personal faith in Christ. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, those who are saved unto the resurrection of eternal life, and those who are lost unto the resurrection of eternal damnation. We believe the Church is a living, spiritual body of which Christ is the Head, and to which all regenerated persons belong. We believe a local church is a company of believers in Jesus Christ, immersed upon a credible confession of faith, associated for worship, work, fellowship, and the task of persuading a lost and sinful world to receive Christ as Savior and Lord. We believe that the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord's Supper were committed for observance to the local church. We further believe that each church is independent and autonomous and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority. We believe that human betterment and social improvement result when the gospel of Christ is at work. The Church, therefore, is to exercise concern for both the spiritual and social needs of mankind, recognizing that its first and foremost priority is the evangelization of the world. We believe it is the Christian's privilege and duty to grow in God's grace and conform to the image of Christ through diligent study of the Scriptures, observance of Biblical standards, prayerful intercession, and faithful stewardship in every aspect of Christian living. We believe that it is a Christian's duty to be personally separated unto Christ and to be separated from the world, from unbelief and apostasy and from sin in all forms. We believe that Satan is a fallen, created personality; that he is the adversary of God and His people; and that he is destined for eternal damnation. 879 Sawyer St., PO Box 2886, South Portland, ME 04116-2886 Phone 1-866-529-NEBC Fax 207-799-6586 Copyright © 1998-2008 All Rights Reserved |
